Happy Futuristic Space Valentines Day! (2025 edition)
I am surprisingly delighted by the results of drawing Ram Quatzi in a hat and tie. I’d say I should draw him like that more often, but that would imply I draw him very often in the first place.
BUT ANYWAY! That makes THREE comics his week! The regularly scheduled page 1353 back on Tuesday, and the comic’s birthday yesterday! And now you know why there’s not a fresh TWC Voting Incentive this week! Thankfully, though, despite all that, I DID manage to get a head start on penciling page 1354, so even if I do collapse from exhaustion over the weekend, I still ought to be able to get that finished and online by Tuesday as usual. No rest for the wicked!
Hovertext – I’ve read that, supposedly, the reason why spam emails are made to look so obviously fake is to filter out all the reasonable people so that only the absolute most gullible will click, so the spammers spend their time on leads more likely to pan out – this is the same principle: People who would open their doors to a random floating head at 2AM are far more likely than the general populace to purchase Secret Zichelidan Love Secrets. I’ll take 10! No, 20!!
oh, i thought he was knocking on doors at night to see who wasn’t home, or at least sleep through loud noises. burglary 100% profit margins. romance kit just a back up sales plan that works as an excuse should anyone answer
I’m just laughing at the suggestion that Ram would be tough enough to ever go through with something as brazen as a burglary. Like, he’ll lie to your face, sure, but he’d become a whimpering coward at the prospect of having to do something as dangerous as actually breaking and entering 🙂
He isn’t stupid. He’ll do fraud simply because he has gotten away with it in court before (he’s so incompetent at it that the court themselves threw the accusation out). But Breaking and Entering? Even if he ignores being caught by police, he could be caught by their security camera’s and held liable for damages! Too much risk to his wallet with too little of a return.
Cowardice and poor risk/return may be his actual reasons, but if you ask him, he’ll insist the reason is “I’m a Con Man, I’m no thief! I have standards!”
(People, even floating heads, love to rationalize the difference between themselves and actual “bad” people, with themselves always on the “not bad” side of the dividing line, and I’m certain this won’t change a billion years from now)
Also, he probably won’t say con man, but will have some euphemism for it, but I can’t think of a good enough one on the spur of the moment.
He’ll just call himself a Salesman, at worst. Ram isn’t running con’s, he’s selling faulty products dirt cheap. It’s not his fault they’re faulty, he didn’t make them. I wouldn’t even be surprised if Ram didn’t make the Zichelidan Romance Kit. Instead, he was employed to sell it on commission by the Zichelidan Emperium in order to discredit someone who DID actually find out about their secret romance customs.
…commissions like that would actually be how Ram makes most of his money & remains a salesman. After which he sub-sequentially loses a third of all his profits investing in his next business venture.
…I think that I just made up backstory for Ram that could easily become cannon. How the HELL did I do that?
I’ll go along with that, except he loses 105% of his prior profits in the next business venture, subsequently getting further into debt with each scheme, and having to take on crazier projects each time in order to try to dig his way out of it.
