Astrid’s Calamitous Christmas Caper – page 24
Oh yeah, ol’ sparkle head is still a thing. We haven’t seen him in so long that I can’t even find the old stock image I was using for his hair anymore. I guess it didn’t make the trip onto this new computer. That’s one more thing to put on the list of stuff I still need to pull off of the old PC but will probably never get around to. And I was already gonna have to figure out how to convert the image from color to screentone as it was, so that was fun. Anyway, we’re almost at the finish line! Just one page to go!
I love that these two awful people do seem to be genuinely into each other. It’s cute.
I like their relationship because they actually seem genuinely GOOD for each other. I mean that this is probably one of the healthiest relationships in fiction, where each actually manages to make the other person better than they are alone. This is just one of the examples of Disonar helping Astrid over her personal issues by caring in just the right way at just the right time, while Astrid almost certainly keeps Disonar from making bad decisions regularly.
I’ve told the story before, half the reason Astrid turned into a real character at all was because I felt kinda bad to have introduced her as a gag and just been mean to her. I wanted her come out of that plotline on an upward trajectory, and I guess Disonar got redeemed a bit in the process as well.
So, in addition to complementing each other well in-story, they boost each others screen-time and development as characters in the real world! The perfect couple! 😀
