page 1342 – the noogie of comfort
Not gonna lie, this was very, VERY close to being another one of those “posting the rough draft in the morning, then coming back in the evening to clean it all up” pages, because I got started LATE on this one. Obviously, I powered through, though it’s only barely still “morning” over here as I post this. And better yet, I’m too sleepy at this point to have anything insightful to say about the actual comic… which is a shame, because this is actually one of those comic’s I’ve had sitting in my head for literal YEARS, so it was pretty rewarding to finally get around to drawing it.
The only other thing I can think of is to warn that this weekend MIGHT end up being pretty busy for me, but it’s also extremely up in the air. So the next Voting Incentive MIGHT be disrupted, but I’m genuinely not sure. Okay, I said the update stuff, now I’m going to bed…
EDIT: Huzzah! New TWC Voting Incentive is indeed up!
You know, noogies being Layla’s preferred sign of affection works on numerous levels. It get’s her close enough to hug, without the normal connotations of a hug. It allows her to “bully” in a friendly manner, and is an action normally not associated with romantic intent.
The problem with it is that it’s also only really reasonable on people sufficiently close to her. Like, if she did that to… let’s say Hiro. The noogie-part shouldn’t really be painful enough for him to care, but the fact that she’s incidentally pulling his head into her chest is something that he 100% should notice. And, even if he doesn’t, if any of the other 3 kids are in the room, they WOULD.
As for why Trigger doesn’t, he has SO MUCH HAIR. And she’s likely been doing this to him for years, even before and as she was developing her chest.
Oh man, I just had a dozen different visual gags pop up in my head of Trigger not noticing things hitting his head thanks to his hair helmet…
Do they work with the “trigger’s got everything from wires to wrenches hidden in his hair” idea my comments brought to mind a while ago?
