page 1319 – scary monster
Before anything else, don’t forget to go back and see the bonus Mother’s Day comic that went up on Sunday! It’s even more garishly-colored than this one!
…and yes, this is the answer to how the food monster got all those holes in it that we hadn’t seen before. The real question NOW is just what monsters actually were tastier than this one, and how often does Stilez resort to eating her opponents in the first place?
Oh, and just a quick head’s up: not this weekend but the following I’m gonna be at Animazement, and I am currently CATASTROPHICALLY behind on preparation. As a result of all the other stuff I need to get done over the next week and a half, there’s a real possibility that the TWC Incentives might end up getting disrupted for a bit. I dunno, I’m gonna try to keep that from happening… but HOLY COW is my To-Do List ever backed up…
EDIT: Okay! TWC Voting Incentive is MIRACULOUSLY up!

Also, I suspect Stilez frequently eats her opponents, at least the ones that are not robots or people, considering she would have just expended a large amount of energy fighting them, and is ravenously hungry even when she’s not expending energy, and, if the vote incentives are any guide, a large percentage of her opponents are already giant monsterized food items anyway 😉
(Part of the reason why the galaxy’s militaries haven’t tried harder to eliminate Stilez, other than the high difficulty of doing so, is that she frequently does their job for them of keeping down the pesky population of giant pillaging foodmonsters that the mad scientific community is constantly loosing on society)
You’re assuming that Stillez operates off of calorie intake. We’ve already seen that she can defy physics, and we believe that she was designed as a weapon (though mad-scientist’s wifu would also be a reasonable guess), so having her operate on below-standard calorie intake while having access to an internal dimensional calorie-storage that means that she only receives the nutrients she needs despite her constant over-eating makes just as much sense.
That itself assume that the amount of eating has any relation to an actual nutritional need. My own gut is strong evidence to the contrary.
My comment doesn’t really connect the two. It only talks about the amount of energy entering the body, not the nutritional value of that energy. Eating 1000 Calories of Potato Chips or 1000 Calories of Nutrient-Enhanced Edible Food-Bars (TM) is still ingesting 1000 Calories, though the latter is, hopefully, better for you nutritionally.
I mean, the end point of her only receiving the nutrients she needs from a dimensionally displaced bio-storage does, but she seems to eat enough volume that the required nutrients should be in there SOMEWHERE. Particularly FOT has anything like the US’s weirdly sweet white-bread, that has legally mandated nutrients mixed into it before cooking to ensure that everyone gets SOME nutrients, even when eating famously nutrient-poor white-bread.
Also, people of the US, it’s been over ten years since I’ve been in your country, but WHY WAS YOUR BASIC WHITE BREAD SWEET! HOW ARE YOU SUPPOSED TO EAT MEAT ON THAT!
I want to say I remember at some point in the distant past there was an author explanation of how Stilez hypermetabolism worked vs her eating habits, but it gets harder and harder to remember through 15+ years whether something was just fan speculation or an actual author comment, and it’s impossible to even go back and check anything before the Smackjeevespocalypse.
I’d answer your other question, but I really only eat whole wheat bread, so I can’t recall if White bread was particularly sweet – for my perception, though, white bread is “that stuff I ate when I was a little kid”, and little kids foods are ‘supposed’ to be loaded with sugar, so that would make sense. (Not that most people don’t continue to eat white bread as adults anyway…probably because the sugar got them addicted as kids…so:success! 😉 )
