An Avatar Christmas – page 13
If we just had Avi on here with Lynne and Maunu, we’d have a full compliment of my least-favorite Far Out There characters to color in! Seriously, the whole retro-pastel gimmick is SO overused these days that I kind of wince a little every time I have to draw any of them. Heck, I’ve found myself instinctively trying to make Bridget & Alphonse a more solid green than they officially are, just because I’m so bored with washed-out half-colors. Maybe I’ll have Maunu suffer a freak saturation accident to make her Reds and Blues more vibrant, I dunno.
Anyway, now comes the awkward moment where Past Me runs out of finished pages to post as part of this initial batch (I mean, I’ve also got the pages for the 24th and 25th done, but I’ll wait until the others are done to queue those up), meaning that while YOU’Ll be reading the next one right after this, there could very well be days if not WEEKS between my writing this and when I write the next one. Sure do hope nothing too earthshattering happens between now and then, or this could get awkward.
You could just have Lynne choose outfits with darker colour schemes, while Avi can wear some things that are more vibrant.
My assumption was that Maunu’s Colour Scheme was purposefully pale, less for appearances sake and more “This is what the equivalent of Goth looks like in FOT times”. Maunu, I have been assuming, was the epitome of FOT’s version of the annoying bugger trying to be an attention whore by being overly dramatic, “miserable” (in quotation marks because they’re partially pretending for attention), and pretending that the universe is horrible because it doesn’t care about them. The universe isn’t horrible because it doesn’t care about you, Maunu. It doesn’t care about you because it doesn’t think, and that’s a small part of what makes it horrible.
Reading back over my original comments, I kinda regret making Maunu the focal point of the rant, because it’s really Avi and Lynne I’ve gotten tired of drawing. She’s just paying for their sins.
That’s fair. And, from what I’ve seen of Maunu’s character, something that she would consider to be expected. So you’re even supporting character development in the rants!
