Far Out There Christmas Videos – page 6
This is what complete sets used to look like, kiddies. We had these things called “box sets” that could easily take up an entire shelf and cost hundreds of dollars. And each tape could only hold one or two episodes a piece. And we had to walk ten miles barefoot in the snow to get water, uphill both ways.
Avatar’s another character who’s kind of struggled to find time in the spotlight lately, what with all these extra characters around. It’s been a while since she got to ramble on for whole pages on some random bit of trivia nobody else cares about.
(Historical Notes: The Alt Text wants you to look close at the pictures on the side… but don’t look TOO close. I only just now noticed that the tapes still have their part numbers listed, and they go in the opposite order of the gag in the pictures. WHOOPS!)
Your Set Video’s only had two episodes? The one series video that I remember from my childhood was 4 episodes of the Ninja Turtles (the 1990’s cartoon version, and we only had the first video in the set). Weirdly enough, it had episodes 1 & 2, but also episodes 5 & 6, or something like that, for some reason. I mean, sure, it’s less than 2 hours of video, probably about or less than 1 and a half hours of video, but still.
@ Historical Notes: That just means that Avatar, instead of falling asleep as the box set went on, instead woke up and became more enthusiastic. Basically a “I’m awake, fine I’ll do this stupid presentation” to a “MORE TRIVIA ON CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS, THEIR MEANINGS AND EVERYTHING ABOUT THEM!” After all, if you watched through all 8 to 12 hours of these, you obviously are interested in the topic. Anyone who isn’t would have dropped out in the first hour.
I remember one or two shows having three or four episodes per tape, but most of them seemed dedicated to milking as much cash and shelf space out of us as possible
….or you’re just a huge Avatar fan. There are certainly people who will watch almost anything even if they have little interest in it if they’re enough of a fan of either the character the show is about or the actor that plays in it. “Avatar Recites The Unabridged Dictionary From Memory” is one of my favorites! Although I’m also partial to “The Complete History of Backronyms, narrated by the Absolute Void Anti Total Apocalypse Receptotron”.
