page 914 – tricks
Just a quick reminder (cos it’s been a while) that Ichabod was already suspicious of Tax before we’d actually seen her do anything out of the ordinary… That is, more out of the ordinary than hanging around with a towering feline destruction machine already was.
Also, another quick reminder that there was a special April Fools page that went up Saturday… and despite the nature of that day, there’s actually a number of glimpses into Far Out There’s real future to be seen, so you’d probably better check it out if you haven’t already!
And, of course, don’t forget the new Voting Incentive!
EDIT: reposted since I was too sleepy to notice the bottom of the page had been cropped off the first time around. Whoops!
(Historical Notes: There was a particularly fun theory in the comments that Tax has actually been remotely controlled by Ichabod this whole time, and he’s making the whole thing sound more dramatic than it is to maintain plausible deniability. If you guys are gonna theorize, really swing for the fences!)
What Tax is remembering in this page was the experimentation on her that ended up giving her the ability to foresee disasters in the near future.
To explain: The “Sparkly Egg People” were in specialised hazmat suits. The Web or Rainbow Noodles they rode was a specialised vehicle made of a network of noodle-like objects wrapped together that reflected light in a rainbow pattern that was required to move near the glowy-tube thingy’s without disturbing them. The glowy-tube thingy’s themselves are just a SMALL PART of what ended up giving Tax the ability to predict the near future, and their geopolitical impact was related to why she was there, near them.
This also leaves enough room to have a whole lot of other pieces of the puzzle about how Tax gained her precognition to be added, because this is only a small part of it. I could also be completely wrong, and it’s actually related to how Tax met Stillez, (with everything else about it still being true) but I prefer my first answer.
Oh man, this is ABSOLUTELY one where I have to be careful about how I respond… so I’ll just say that part and move on.
Tax is just somewhat confused by her overlapping memory of the last 5 minutes where a bunch of unknown characters who had only appeared in vote incentives tied them up in a closet and took over the ship, and then suddenly everything was back to normal. That would confuse me too!
That, and all those non-canonical holiday comics and voting incentives that only she remembers. There’s a lot to keep track of!
It’s all clear now.
Tax is Deadpool.
Deadpool isn’t the only person with Fourth-Wall Breaking Powers. And Tax is less deadly, smaller, and cuter than Deadpool. And the wrong gender. And doesn’t seem to have cancer, especially not so much cancer that her cancers have cancer, like Deadpool.
TLDR: Tax Can’t Be Deadpool, There Would Be Too Many Continuity Errors For That To Be Possible.
Also, Tax isn’t as over-exposed as Deadpool.
…yet.
Is Deadpool overexposed? I try very hard to NOT be familiar enough with whatever is current culture to know. I remembered Deadpool from the comics, I do know they made a movie about him, but that’s about it. Although Deadpool definitely seems like the sort of character the internet would beat like a million dead horses until everyone was sick of the no-longer-clever memes and photoshops, etc. So I can believe it about him being overexposed. Once Stilez&Tax have their first feature length movie spin-off from the lucrative FOT movie franchise, I’m sure Tax will get there too. Just please don’t sell them to Disney.
Any comic character that get’s their own movie is likely to have enough of a fanbase to quickly become overexposed. Additionally, the threshold for what “overexposed” is varies from individual to individual and character to character. For example, Superman & Batman both have been so prevalent in media throughout my life that I, personally, can’t say that he’s overexposed, even though that level of media saturation for most other comic characters would be overexposure for me. I heard a song the song that literally has the words “go Super Saiyan” in it on the radio, and was surprised about that.
Deadpool… is actually pretty close to that level of exposure. He’s not as pervasive as Superman, Batman, The Super Saiyan Transformation from Dragon Ball (which is more widely utilised than actual Dragon Ball Characters), but he’s one of those character’s who’s getting to at least Wolverene’s level of exposure.
For me, it’s more a matter of seeing WAY too many lazy Deadpool cosplayers shouting WAY too many memes at WAY too many conventions.
Honestly, Con’s are probably a microcosm that has the highest concentration of Deadpool Exposure Saturation, including DC/Marvel Comic Forums. So…
I don’t mean that Tax is literally deadpool’s body magically transmuted into a puppygirl with his brain intact. Tax is this Universe’s analogue of Deadpool. Since Science Fiction Cinema has repeatedly shown us that in any multiple universe’s situation there is always an “equal” of each person in every other universe. Maybe they just have a beard. Maybe they’re a different gender. Maybe they’re a GIANT ROBOT. It’s that universe’s “equivalent” of the original universe’s person.
Naturally, the FOT Universe’s equivalent of any person from another universe would likely be much cuter, much more adorable, probably smaller, and more likely to be female than the original universe’s version. That’s the way the Laws of Physics in the FOTverse work.
I do take issue with the point that Tax is less deadly than Deadpool. Tax has the power: “Ability To Manipulate Stilez”. That’s about as deadly as it gets.
