page 685 – charming friendly people
While last week’s “it’s a convention, but with laser guns!” vibe was on purpose, it also came across as a little too… nice. Like, just a bunch of harmless geeks who happen to be interested in dangerous weapons. So here’s a quick reminder that, no, most of these crooks really are horrible scumbags.
So… yeah, this page is super late again. I’m afraid the reason is kind of stupid: I usually do the Voting Incentive before the main comic, because it usually takes a lot less time to finish those. BUT NOT THIS TIME. Nope, I somehow failed to consider that the biggest, longest, most elaborate Voting Incentive we’ve ever had just MIGHT take longer than usual to finish, and that threw everything off.
BUT HERE IT IS! THE LONG AWAITED VOTING INCENTIVE! As promised, this one gives you all the details about Layla’s Mom, their relationship, and what about the early pages is being retconed. So, seriously, you really need to go vote and read it.
…oh, and sorry if your browser freaks out over the size of the image. TWC only lets you have one Incentive image at a time, and I literally couldn’t scale this one down and farther without making the text illegible.
EDIT: aaaaaand crap. Photobucket seems to have scaled it down too small anyway. Hang on, I’ll see if I can fix it…
EDIT EDIT: GRUMBLEGRUMBLEGRUMBLE Okay, the only way I could get this to work was by putting the incentive on a different host that I’m not used to. HOPEFULLY, it’ll be visible to everyone no problem, but let me know if it’s not showing up for you.
(Historical Notes: OOOOOooooh man, I don’t miss having to jump through all those hoops to deal with image hosting. Anyway, THIS is where the Pattie Retcon was officially unleashed on the world, and I’m kind of glad that everyone was too busy being distracted by THAT to think too hard about what’s going on here. It IS the first really obvious sign of Disonar’s character being cleaned up, though.)
See, Disonar’s “character growth” has already proven itself to not be some significant change from the baseline, just that the baseline was different than what was implied previously, and needs to account for Disonar’s foreknowledge of his situation.
