The Far Out There Christmas Parade – page 23
AAAAAND there’s the last of our Stilez vs. Christmas cameos! I wasn’t sure I could squeeze all of ’em in at first, but TAKE THAT!
Anyway, Tabitha is really freaking adorable in this page. I like exuberant nerds, especially when their exuberance makes them oblivious to the weird looks everyone else is giving them.
Oh, and speaking of Santa Claus Corporation thing story ideas, I totally want this to become a real thing.
(Historical Notes: That bottom panel is a pretty great visual depiction of Layla and Tabitha’s entire friendship. Also, they actually did end up making that anime the link is talking about. It was… meh.)
this page still has the default page-title-hovertext
also – are the hovertexts for each strip on this site the same as the original hovertexts, because smackjeeves seems to have dropped them entirely in the conversion so I’m wondering if they were lost forever. Yes, I know I ought to remember what all the previous hovertexts were and not have to ask this question, I am terribly ashamed of my failure.
Whoops! Fixed!
Also, SmackJeeves technically HAS preserved the alt-text, everything’s just been moved around. The alt text for old comics is now in the grey box right under the comic, and the “real” author notes are down in the comment section. But yeah, I’ve been faithfully copy/pasting the original text, except for instances where I just never included any the first time around.
Ah, so they did. I would never have noticed. So they just moved the hovertext somewhere where it wouldn’t make sense, then moved the author comments to the BOTTOM of the page where neither they nor subsequent comments would make sense, then lost the comment titles and the usernames of all the comments, so replies wouldn’t make sense.
I really want to be in on the design-team brainstorming session where they thought any of these were good changes.
See, I just choose to be grateful that they even bothered to preserve ANY old text, despite it clearly not being what they wanted the new layout to be about. In fact, they somehow turned off the new character limit for these old posts to make sure none of them got cut off half-way through. How much worse would THAT have been?
Wow. There’s a character limit now? Ugh. That would be bad. We’re all about long rambling comments here.
Remember, they’re basically looking at this like they’re running a comic-hosting phone app. They’d probably say that wordy conversations like what we do ought to be done on, I dunno, the comic’s Discord or some crap like that.
Oh, well, in that case, if they were hoping those lengthy conversations would take place on some other web site, they have succeeded splendidly, now they will! 😀
I’m still checking for the part on my 20 year old flip phone where the webcomics come out of. I don’t see it. Maybe it’s in the battery compartment. Are you sure they have the webcomics on the telephones these days?
That’s what they tell me, but I refuse to believe it. I exclusively use my phone for taking pictures and getting directions… LIKE A NORMAL PERSON.
(But seriously, I’ll never be able to fathom browsing websites on a smartphone because I can’t fathom browsing websites in any environment other than the peace and quiet of my own room)
